Emerald Media is just a name to share some of my photography with you. It’s not anything like a business, let alone company and/or enterprise. Perhaps using this name was reaching a bit high for the simple things it stands for, but it’ll do for now.
As a hobby photographer and a bit of a preservationist, you will find me taking pictures of historical architectural structures, noteworthy landscapes, travels, portraits, weddings, and wildlife. Lately I’ve focused on 35mm and 120mm (Medium Format) film photography, and a bit of Super 8mm film cinematography. I rarely take on more than one paid project a year, for most other projects I simply ask for reimbursement of the expenses. For wedding photography, I usually select one or so weddings a year as second or preferrably third shooter ,taking film photos or optionally 8mm cinematic movie film only. If need be I can do digital, I’d then provide the 42.3 megapixel RAW files, and hundreds, or if you prefer, thousands of shots.
Humor and Fun
Humor is one of the best tools in the photographer’s toolbox. Interacting with nature, objects and people, requires a bit of patience, and so it’d be awful to not have fun in the mean time, and become this silent grump.
“No photograph ever was good, let, of anybody — hunger and thirst and utter wretchedness overtake the outlaw who invented it!
A photograph transforms into desperadoes the meekest of men; depicts sinless innocence upon the pictured faces of ruffians; gives the wise man the stupid leer of a fool, and a fool an expression of more than earthly wisdom. If a man tries to look serious when he sits for his picture the photograph makes him look as solemn as an owl; if he smiles, the photograph smirks repulsively; if he tries to look pleasant, the photograph looks silly; if he makes the fatal mistake of attempting to seem pensive, the camera will surely write him down as an ass.
The sun never looks through the photographic instrument that it does not print a lie. The piece of glass it prints it on is well named a “negative”, a contradiction, a misrepresentation, a falsehood.
I speak feeling of this matter, because by turns the instrument has represented me to be a lunatic, a Soloman, a missionary, a burglar and an abject idiot, and I am neither.”
